17 November 2016 - Nintendo's NES Classic console sold on eBay at a rate of one every 18 seconds on its launch day. While the consoles sold out within minutes at official US retailers the day the system was launched, sales of the console on eBay that day were occurring every 18 seconds according to Statistics provided by Polygon to eBay.
Whilst sales have slowed down since Tuesday, eBay says it is still seeing sales of the console every minute and twenty-three seconds.
The average sale price of the $60 NES Classic on eBay from the November 11 launch date until Tuesday was about $230, as reported by eBay.
Most major US retailers have been out of stock of the console since launch day last Friday. The one exception seems to be Walmart, which held back stock to release at a specific time each day this week. Customers have been flooding to the site, knocking the checkpoint portion of the Walmart offline temporarily every day as they struggle to purchase the console, with daily Walmart stock selling out in less than a minute.
Nintendo has said that it will have more of the console in stock "through the holiday shopping season and into the new year," however it has not offered anymore specific details.
A quick search on eBay shows NES Classic Editions are now selling for around the $240 and of course, moving fast.
